Moose Hunting and Fishing Packages Not Subject
  to the Random Draw

These are generally packages that include more elaborate services. For example, Portes-de-L'Enfer Lodge and the Lac-des-Neiges sector (pdf : 1085 ko) offer deluxe hunting and fishing stays under the American plan. Other packages are also offered in the Croche-McCormick sector at Lac Beaujour (accessible by seaplane) and Lac Brûlé, Lac Croche and Lac Mâles (accessible by forestry roads).

These packages go on sale on the last Tuesday in May for the following season, that is May 27, 2008 for the 2009 season (fishing).


Fishing

At least 1,000 lakes and nine rivers are spread out over 28 accommodation sectors: Cyriac, Aux Écorces, L'Étape, Le Gîte du Berger, Gourganne, F.-X.-Lemieux, Hirondelle, Jacques-Cartier, La Passe, Malbaie, Mercier, Montagnais, Myrica, Pécan, Portageurs, Sept-Îles, Devlin, Lac-à-l'Épaule, Lac-à-Noël, Lac-Beaujour, Lac-Brûlé, Lac-des-Mâles, Lac-Croche, Les Portes-de-l'Enfer et Lac-Henri-Mercier, Pikauba, Giroux, Lac-des-Neiges.

Some fifteen lakes are reserved for day fishing. Fishing is managed by following a plan determined ahead of time and approved by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles, de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec.

New in 2008 : It is now possible to reserve your day fishing activity 4 months in advance. For example, if you want to fish on June 24, you should reserve on February 24. Online reservations and phone reservations start at 8:30 AM (1 800 665-6527). Catch and Possession Limits:




  Brook trout: 15 (Certain lakes, located on the territory of Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier but administered by Réserve faunique des Laurentides, have a catch limit of 10 charr.)
Arctic charr: 15 (Certain lakes, located on the territory of Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier but administered by Réserve faunique des Laurentides, have a catch limit of 10 charr.)
Lake trout and splake: 2 in all (However, certain lakes have lower catch limits to protect their fishing potential.)

Hunting

Moose Hunting

The density of the moose population of Réserve faunique des Laurentides allows hunting success of about 61%.

Period: From September 2 to October 7, 2008

Moose hunting in Réserve faunique des Laurentides is subject to quotas.

Most of the 366 groups of hunters are subject to the random draw. Some packages, which are not subject to this draw, allow 49 groups to take part under the American plan at Portes-de-L'Enfer (guide and meals provided) and 18 groups under the European plan (without meals) in the Lac Brûlé sector.








Small Game Hunting

Enthusiasts can hunt Ruffed Grouse, Spruce Grouse and snowshoe hare.

Hunting may be practiSed by the day or with accommodations. Eight accommodation sectors play host to small game hunters. You can make reservations for the following year at 1 800 665-6527, starting on the 3rd Tuesday of September (September 16, 2008 for 2009), at 8:30 AM and at all times throughout the current year

Outdoor Activities





Canoe-Camping

Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are practised in Réserve faunique des Laurentides. Camp Mercier is a renowned and well-equipped ski centre. It offers 19 cabins for rent, restaurant services, a rental boutique, a wax room, first-aid clinics, ski patrols, first-rate trail grooming services, a skating rink and a slide near the cabins.

The network of trails features 52 linear kilometres of trails, including 40 for traditional skiing and 12 for skate skiing. Camp Mercier offers the best snow conditions in Québec

Snowmobiling


Conveniently located at the crossroads of snowmobile trails, two kilometres from L'Étape Service Centre, Auberge Le Relais offers snowmobiling enthusiasts comfortable, high-quality accommodations, characteristic of the establishments of Réserve faunique des Laurentides. Under the supervision of a friendly and attentive staff, snowmobiling enthusiasts will discover tasty cuisine and a cozy atmosphere after a day out on the trails.
