Cross country skiing, snowshoeing...  and now MOUNTAIN BIKING!

Camp Mercier is renowned as an excellent cross country skiing and snowshoeing centre. Set in Réserve faunique des Laurentides, it is certainly one of the snowiest cross country skiing centres in the country! It offers classic and skate skiers and snowshoers a wide variety of trails along with a very long season, gorgeous scenery and unparalleled views! At Camp Mercier, less than an hour from the city of Québec, the cross country skiing and snowshoeing season even lasts into April! In the summer, Camp Mercier will be opening its trails to mountain bikers! We're waiting for you!

Cross Country Skiing

The almost unaltered natural setting of Camp Mercier offers 60 linear km of trails, 48 for the classic style and 12 for skate skiing. In all, there are a total of over 120 km of patrolled and groomed trails, varying from easy to difficult. A gently sloping 2-km cross country skiing trail now links the Devlin sector to the Camp Mercier network. The trail passes under the Route 175 viaduct.

Snowshoeing

For snowshoeing, 29 linear km form a network of over 40 km. There are 3 warming huts along the way and the views are dazzling. One of the trails culminates at 1,000 m in altitude...a challenge worth the detour, and a real treat for seasoned snowshoers! A snowshoeing trail now links the Devlin cabin sector to the Camp Mercier network. The trail passes under the Route 175 viaduct.

Cabins

Some 20 very well-equipped cabins sleep 2 to 14 people. The are near the cross country skiing, snowshoeing and moutain biking trails. A cabin stay is a great way to make the fun last for a few days, and to be close to the action! In winter, cabin residents can also enjoy snow tubing and skating near the Lac-à-Noël and Devlin cabins. In the past few years, the accommodations have been completely refurbished: cabins were built in the Lac-à-Noël, Pécan and Devlin sectors.

Mountain biking

This summer, 36 km of cross country ski trails will be available for mountain biking. All of the trails will be pooled together, making nearly 40 km of paths across Camp Mercier’s mountainous territory and through Forêt Montmorency, to the great delight of backcountry bikers.

Trails:

  • 9 km - easy level on short forest trails with access to rest huts.
  • 27 km - difficult level on cross country ski trials. The trails do not require much technical skill but they go through marshy areas and up some steep hills. There are also a few rest huts on these trails. Trails number 13 and 14A offer magnificent views of the backcountry.
  • 5 huts including Le Pic, at 786 m in altitude
