Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata, the latest addition to the Parcs nationaux du Québec network, is set in Bas-Saint-Laurent in the regional county municipality of Témiscouata. This park is an invitation to discover the Monts Notre-Dame region, representative of the largest natural region on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. Hinged around the largest and most majestic lake in the region, Lac Témiscouata, this territory has remarkable natural assets and exceptional archaeological wealth. To make this treasure accessible, the Sépaq team is already working on infrastructures that will offer the public a unique experience infused with the spirit of the area.
Watch for the grand opening in 2012! Until then, you can stay at a cabin and hike on the national trail.
Once the work has been completed, you’ll be able to enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, cycling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
Four branches of the Sentier national cross into Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata, offering an excellent way to discover the park on hikes:
- Les Cascades Sutherland (9.6 km)
- Montagne-à-Fourneau (9.6 km)
- Rivière Touladi (5.8 km in the park)
- La Grande Baie (14.3 km)
Did you know that 2 huts managed by Sentier national du Bas-Saint-Laurent are available for rent in the park? For a detailed description of each branch of the trail and to rent a hut, visit www.sentiernationaltemiscouata.com.
