Wildlife and Other Developments
Two sites have been developed for waterfowl by Ducks Unlimited at Lac Jimmy and Lac Bourassa.
The original biodiversity of several bodies of water has been restored. This intervention was necessary because of the presence of species competing with brook trout. The fishing results that followed have been spectacular.
Spawning grounds have been developed on some ten bodies of water.
Liming work has helped to re-establish the pH of the water of Lac Blanc.
The forest of Réserve faunique Mastigouche is exploited by the logging industry under Timber Supply and Forest Management Agreements awarded by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec. Logging takes place according to the provisions of the Regulation respecting standards of forest management. Wildlife reserve managers are consulted on the types of treatment and the nature of planned management activities.
