Réserve faunique Assinica is definitely the northernmost and wildest of all the wildlife reserves in the network. It's in the Nord-du-Québec region on the James Bay territory. It's cut through by a river, the impetuous Broadback, and has many lakes. Because it lies within a large beaver reserve, beaver hunting is reserved for Aboriginal people, as is fishing for some fish species like whitefish and sturgeon.
