Aerial inventories conducted in 2006 showed that the park has the highest concentration of beaver colonies in Québec’s undeveloped areas. Over 44 active lodges were found, corresponding to a population of about 180 individuals. The presence of so many beavers in a 3 km2 area of the park’s forest has a definite impact on ecosystem balance. In 2014, a new comprehensive inventory of this population was conducted and more than 75 active huts were listed!
