ACTIVITIES
Swimming
Swimming, volley-ball, sandcastles, picnics: a day at the beach at the Lac-Kénogami Vacation Resort is a return to the vacations of your childhood... Covered by fine sand, the beach is appreciated by young families who like the safety of the gently sloping banks. When the sun is at its peak, take refuge under the shade of white pines for a family picnic. The beach is supervised from June 20 to August 23, 2008.
Canoeing and Kayaking
Rent a canoe at the rental centre and treat yourself to a little ride along the banks or a trip on the old fur route. For a closer look at life on the big lake, try a lake kayak, also available for rent at the centre.
Game for All Ages
The kids can check out the playground while adults and parents play softball, basketball or volleyball. There is a horseshoe game area behind the community centre, where you can also borrow some board games or a petanque set.
Fishing
Lac Kénogami is home to fourteen fish species, one of which is the landlocked salmon, a prized freshwater salmon, and speckled trout. The maximum depth of the lake is 102 metres and its perimeter is 227 kilometres. You will need a Québec fishing licence but no fishing right is required.
Hiking
Visitors can choose among some 8 kilometres of trails, laid out in three loops. The main trail crosses a beautiful pine forest carpeted with golden needles. These trails are also open to cyclists. What's more, the Resort is near the parc régional du Lac-Kénogami, which has a 45-kilometre hiking trail along the south bank of the lake.
Cycling
The Resort's hiking trails are also accessible by bicycle. The region offers many choices to cyclists, such as the renowned Véloroute des Bleuets, which circles Lac Saint-Jean.
Tennis
The Vacation Resort has two tennis courts available for rent, along with equipment.
