A representative element of the Monteregian hills natural region, Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno has five lakes, an apple orchard, a historic mill, and dozens of kilometres of woodland trails. Some 200 species of birds and some forty species of mammals share this little corner of paradise. Indeed, like other Monteregian hills, Mont Saint-Bruno constitutes an important woodland habitat in the Greater Montréal urban environment. In winter or summer, take advantage of the pure and healthy air of this oasis of peace a few kilometres from the metropolitan area.

Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno - Verger à faible impact environnemental Orchard With Low Environmental Impact
The orchard at Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno is now being managed with an eye to the environment and science. The main research goal is to reduce pesticide spray drift and the environmental impact of pesticides, to improve the way they are used, and to develop alternatives, such as biological control, preservation of beneficial insects, and pest detection. All of these studies aim to reduce environmental impacts while preserving the quality and profitability of fruit production.

Integrated fruit production emphasizes minimal use of pesticides and adoption of integrated pest control. It allows profitable production of quality apples while respecting the environment. The orchard was established in 1929 by the Brothers of St. Gabriel. Today, its heritage, in terms of history, genetic diversity, agriculture, and science, is preserved in a 2-ha conservation area. The older and ever-popular varieties (Cortland, Lobo, Melba, McIntosh) grow alongside lesser-known ones (Bancroft, Hume, Wealthy) and a few pear and plum trees. Visitors can enjoy picking different kinds of apples all autumn-long at Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno.
