Partial access to trails (Thurso sector) and temporary closure of camping loops
Following the flooding in Thurso sector of Parc national de Plaisance, the trails are damaged and not suitable for cycling. Work is currently underway on the Outaouais and Baie-Noire trails to restore accessibility. As a result, the entire sector is open to hiking only.
For visitor safety, the use of bicycles or any other means of transportation (carts, mobility scooters, etc.) is prohibited due to debris on the trails. The boat launch may be used, but the dock cannot be installed at this time.
La Carrière trail
A section of the La Carrière trail is closed for an indefinite period, preventing the connection between the two park sectors. However, two points of interest remain accessible:
- Molson picnic area from the Discovery and Visitors Centre (2.5 km)
- La Carrière picnic area from the Baie-Noire parking lot (1.5 km)
Unfortunately, this situation is beyond our control. The Papineau RCM is making every effort to resolve the situation, and we hope this issue will be resolved as soon as possible.
For more details, please consult the trail conditions (in French only).
Closure of the Chemin de la Petite-Presqu’île and camping loops
Please also note that, for campground maintenance reasons, the following sectors will be closed from June 7 (2 p.m.) to June 11, 2026 (1 p.m.):
- Camping loops: La Cédrière, Les Marmottes, Les Buttes, L’Érablière, La Baie, Les Rives, Le Hameau and Maison Blais
- La Carapace Visitors Centre and play areas
Only the Fer-à-Cheval campground will be open during this period.
Please note that only the Discovery Centre parking lot will be accessible (Zizanie-des-Marais and Desjardins picnic area parking lots will be closed).
As a result, Chemin de la Petite-Presqu’île will not be accessible to vehicle traffic.
Thank you for your understanding.
