Ecological Integrity

The Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program at Parc national d'Oka

Since 2004, the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program (EIMP) (see also the summary, in French only) ehas been implemented at Parc national d'Oka. A total of 21 indicators are monitored. Among these are:

  • The condition of benthic fauna, which consists of a variety of species living in the waterways. Their composition gives an indication of water quality
  • An indicator of exceptional forest ecosystems, since the park has many of these rare or major forest sanctuaries that are home to several special status plants.
