The Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program at Parc national du Mont-Orford

Since 2004, the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program (EIMP) (see also the summary, in French only) has been implemented at Parc national du Mont-Orford. A total of 23 indicators are monitored.

  • An indicator measuring the influence of hiking trails to assess the impact of hikers on the walking surface (widening, erosion, etc.)
  • Monitoring stream salamanders, amphibians that are very sensitive to changes in their habitat
  • An indicator on the condition of campsites (with services or primitive) to assess the impact of visitors in the infrastructures and the natural environment

EIMP Report 2003-2012

After 10 years of field research, we are proud to present the first report on the evolution of the ecological integrity for Quebec’s National Parks. Access the entire findings of more than 370 surveys carried out through the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program.
