Ecological Integrity

The Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program at Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé

Since 2004, the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program (EIMP) (see also the summary, in French only) has been implemented at Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé. A total of 14 indicators are monitored. Among them are:

  • Mercury levels in Northern Gannet eggs, indicating the presence of this contaminant in the waters of the Gulf of St-Lawrence and its accumulation in the food chain.
  • Seabirds nesting in the park.
  • The drab pycnosperma, a threatened species in Québec.
