Landlocked salmon

This is an Atlantic salmon that lives in freshwater lakes. It is very popular with anglers and can be found mainly in the Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean and Outaouais regions.

Elsewhere, in Mauricie for instance, it is said to have been introduced at the time of private fishing clubs. It can still be found in legendary Lac Sorcier, in Réserve faunique Mastigouche, where it was implanted in the early 1900s. This lake is still a popular fishing destination in Mauricie, where landlocked salmon are rare.
