Parc national Ulittaniujalik

Book now

Parc national Ulittaniujalik has been shaped by unique geological events. Pyramid mountain, the park’s emblem, exhibits old shorelines, evidence of a 7 000 years old glacial lake that once covered the land. It is this exceptional feature that gave the name of the park in Inuktitut since Ulittaniujalik means “where there are shorelines”. The majestic George river run through the park, at the bottom of a glacial valley. It once bore witness of several thousands of caribous passing by. Historically an important site for Inuit and Naskapi, they use to meet there to hunt caribous. Like past adventurers looking for a passage to the Ungava bay, you can discover the George river by canoe-camping.
