For the experience of three seasons in a single summer

In the mountains, the alpine flora, the canyon waters, and the sky have whole seasons dedicated just to them. Discover our summer packages.

Summer in the mountains

What's the activity of the day? The choice is yours! You can go off on your own, or be guided by our outdoor enthusiasts who know the environment of the Auberge better than anyone else.

Wildlife watching

Moose-watching safari

At sunrise, meet the moose, monarch of the forest. This imposing cervid is everywhere around the Auberge and in Réserve faunique de Matane, since the concentration of moose living on the territory is one of the highest in all of Québec. Keep your eyes peeled for great sightings.

Beaver watching

A guided beaver-watching activity is offered at the Lacs Alpins at the end of the day. Discover this emblematic local animal in its natural habitat.

Ornithology

Birdwatchers will find plenty to observe. The skies are filled with birds of prey such as eagles, buzzards, and falcons. Kingfishers, great blue herons, and American waxwings also put on a show near lakes Nicol-Albert and Barbarin.

Sporting adventures

Hiking

Explore trails accessible only from the Auberge. Several half-day expeditions are on offer, some easily accessible (e.g. the Chutes (waterfall) tour), others more demanding (including climbs to bare peaks at over 1000 metres in altitude). Full-day outings are also available, to climb alpine peaks such as the Matawees.

Electric mountain bikes

Explore the heart of the wilderness on an electrically-assisted mountain bike.  Along the way, the many lakes and rivers are great places to stop. Imagine over 100 km of forest roads... just for you! Bike and helmet provided.

Paddleboarding

Explore Lac Grand-Fond by paddleboard. This two-hour tour of the lake will test your balance and observation skills, as wildlife is everywhere.

Kayaking

Kayaks are available so you can glide along the water and enjoy the vastness and beauty of the scenery in complete tranquillity. As a new feature, you can now paddle on Lac Barbarin, the territory's largest lake.

Exploration

Natural waterfalls and pools

On a hot summer's day, there are a number of water features to cool you off: Chute à Clovis waterfall and its fairyland pool, Chute du Prince, and mysterious Mem canyon, made up of a succession of a dozen waterfalls and crystal-clear pools. This activity is a star attraction of the Water Ceremony package.

Boreal flora

Accompanied by a guide, discover the exceptional flora of the territory. During this visit to Lac Castor, now a peat bog, you’ll have an opportunity to check out carnivorous plants and species common to the Arctic tundra. Also on the program: picking and tasting, depending on the season. This activity is featured in the Festival of Colours package.

Stargazing

The starry skies at the Auberge are pure and clear. From the outside balcony, gaze up at the Milky Way, or take a walk by the light of our headlamps. A guided interpretation activity is also available as part of the Star Harvest package.

Taking a walk

You can enjoy short walks right around the Auberge. The Auberge loop is a sure bet, with its breathtaking views of Vallée du Bascon and Chute Hélène.

Relaxing in a hammock

Sites with hammocks are scattered throughout the forest near the Auberge. Ideal for intimate contact with nature.

Picnicking

When you're out in nature, you can enjoy a tasty, energy-enhancing box lunch prepared just for you. Savour your meal at the foot of a waterfall, on a lakeside dock, or on a mountainside.

Relaxation and well-being

Spa space

A tranquil space featuring a sauna and an outdoor spa invites guests to relax in style.

Yoga and meditation

At the end of the day, guests are invited to a yoga and meditation session so as to centre themselves and clear their heads.

Library

A guide to identifying animal tracks, herbariums of local plants, novels, magazines... there's so much to consult in our friendly library.

Happy hour

Late afternoon get-togethers are sometimes organized at the top of Button de l'Est, where there's an observation deck. A perfect place to enjoy the panorama while sipping one of our delicious cocktails.

A visit from the owner

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Auberge to discover all the secrets behind running such a self-sufficient, remote operation. A meeting with the "garage magicians" is also a must for fans of mechanics and engineering.
