My very first Québec winter
SNAP Québec, the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (Sépaq), the Fondation Monique-Fitz-Back and the Association des Camps du Québec have hooked up to create Connexion N, a project designed to give young people with a “nature deficit” their introductory experience of the great outdoors.
This past January, we invited students from Montréal's École la Dauversière to spend a day in the great outdoors at Parc national d'Oka. For many, this was their first or second winter in Québec. The shock is sometimes great, but it's by experiencing new winter activities, helping each other, and having fun, that they've learned to cohabit with winter and come to terms with the nature of their new host country.
Maria-Isabel's first "real" winter
In this touching short video, Maria-Isabel shares with us her very first experience of cold and snow. A gentle, heartfelt account that reminds us that the Quebec winter is a unique season, and that the benefits of nature also have a social impact.

About SNAP Québec
The Société pour la nature et les parcs (SNAP Québec) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of nature. SNAP Québec is working to create a network of protected areas across the province, in order to ensure the long-term protection of the boreal forest, the Far North, the St. Lawrence, and the ecosystems that are home to our endangered species. It also ensures the proper management of existing protected areas.
Founded in 2001, SNAP Québec can draw on a Canadian network that has been active since 1963. SNAP Québec has contributed to the creation of over 120,000 km2 of protected areas in Québec, including Parc national Tursujuq.
