Astronomy evening at the Popular Observatory

Description

  • Mount Megantic Popular Observatory, located near its big brother at the summit and equipped with a 61-cm telescope, is a multimedia observatory that is unique in the world and entirely dedicated to the public

Program

  • The evening events are adapted to the meteorological and astronomic conditions
  • If the sky is clear, observation with the telescope and from inclined benches on the observation platform.
  • If the sky is overcast, the Observatory's audio-visual arsenal will be put to good use to take you on a trip through the universe with presentations that are rich in content, images, and interactivity including a presentation on the WEBB space telescope. The activities are conducted in French.

Procedure

  • Approximate length: between 2:30 hrs (without dusk) and 3:00 hrs (including dusk), depending on when the activity takes place
  • Shuttle service included The drive on the 5.5 km road is done with the bus. It is not possible to leave the summit before the end. The bus leaves 10 minutes after the start time of the activity indicated on your ticket.
  • Go to the Observatoire sector welcome centre 15 minutes before the selected departure time. The welcome centre is located 25 minutes from Franceville sector.

  • Warm clothing (coat, toque, gloves).
