Ecological Integrity

The Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program at Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata

Since 2004, the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program (EIMP) (see also the summary, in French only) has been implemented at Parc national du Lac Témiscouata. A total of 21 indicators are monitored. The monitoring of eutrophication of Lac Témiscouata and the water quality of the rivers make it possible to report on the biophysical conditions of the territory. The monitoring of indicator species, such as anurans and breeding birds, measures the state of biocenosis. Rare species such as the Calypso bulbosa, the orchid, the bald eagle (our iconic animal), and the pygmy whitefish are also monitored.
