Park Experience

Sculpted by Time, the Land of Menaud

Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie offers one of the most spectacular panoramas in Québec. It was named after a series of valleys cut deep into a ridge of high mountains. Very steep slopes, the aesthetics of the landscapes and the unusual course of Rivière Malbaie make this an exceptional and unique place. Come take a voyage into the heart of the land of Menaud, where time stops but the show goes on and on. This national park has the privilege of being one of the central areas of the Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve. This jewel of the backcountry is accessible through the picturesque village of Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs.

Discover the Park Through Interpretation

Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie has the potential to inspire wonder! And the best way is to participate in our discovery activities (in French only). Through the nterpretation of natural and cultural heritage you’ll learn more about the park and the importance of protecting it.

Among the treasures we wish to share are the unique wildlife (think Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, to name just a few), exciting and sensational discovery activities (the famous riverboat cruise and the guided rabaska canoe trip) and an incredibly rich history (the thrilling adventure of writer William H. Blake, the heroic era of log driving, the creation of the park, etc.).

To guide us in developing our discovery activities, all the parks have an education plan.

During your time at the park, don’t miss a visit to the Félix-Antoine Savard Discovery and Visitors Centre. It includes a reception services, booking services for the discovery and rabaska cruises, information about all the discovery activities, Boutique Nature and a convenience store.

A Perfect Day of Cycling

Head out to see the Ruisseau Blanc Falls by bike. A day filled with fabulous discoveries awaits you. Take the cycling path along Rivière Malbaie to the short trail, which offers a great view of the falls.

Ruisseau Blanc Falls
The Ruisseau Blanc Falls is a must-see for those who go to l’Équerre.

The Rivière Malbaie Valley is the most spectacular area of the park. Most visitors explore it on foot from the summit of Acropole mountain or from a boat in Rivière Malbaie. But discovering the valley on the cycling path is just as enjoyable, if not more so, since you can also visit the Ruisseau Blanc Falls this way. Why not have a picnic sitting on a rock and admiring the splendour of this huge mass of water crashing at your feet?
