Since 2004, the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program (EIMP) (see also the summary, in French only) has been implemented at Parc national de la Gaspésie. A total of 20 indicators are monitored. Among these, the greenscale willow is monitored to measure the expansion or regression of several groves of this endangered species, which is unique in the world.
Hiking is the park’s featured activity. The use and frequentation of the many trails have an impact on the park’s ecological integrity and the visitor’s experience. The width of the paths is therefore measured regularly to respond quickly to any deterioration of these infrastructures, essential to heritage discovery.
After 10 years of field research, we are proud to present the first report on the evolution of the ecological integrity for Quebec’s National Parks. Access the entire findings of more than 370 surveys carried out through the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program. We therefore invite you to go take a look at the results for your favorite parks! (You can also consult the report summary in English - see below).
