The Aquarium du Québec Conservation Fund

Saving species!

Your purchases matters

There’s an incredible wealth of marine flora and fauna for you to share. Within the framework of its conservation and education mandate, Aquarium du Québec focuses its efforts on helping its visitors discover this fascinating and fragile world.

It is in this spirit of protection that the Aquarium du Québec Conservation Fund was created in 2005 in order to fund projects that work on behalf of marine flora and fauna. Let's take a closer look.

Why was this fund created?

"Let's protect what we love!” Above and beyond being a place where the entire family is entertained, Aquarium du Québec also has a clear role in educating and raising awareness among its faithful visitors.

When it was created in 2005, the Conservation Fund’s objectives included assisting a vast array of projects related to marine species and highlighting the importance of concrete and environmentally responsible actions for the protection of the planet. This sense of purpose is even more relevant today, as the impacts of our actions on the environment are more tangible than ever before.

Concrete actions in a few words…

The actions undertaken thanks to our generous donors have enabled the Aquarium du Québec to take concrete action for the environment.

Here are just a few examples:

  • Diving operations to clean up various waterways
  • Public awareness activities with our Aquavan
  • Diving projects to collect invasive species such as the zebra mussel, as well as projects to study tthe impact of scuba-diving activities on the Île Bonaventure seabe
  • Research projects on the reproduction of the sunflower starfish, a species in decline
  • Conservation projects about snapping turtle reproduction

How to do one's part?

There are already a number of ways to help us raise money for the Conservation Fund, including donations by visitors for food to feed the rays in the contact pool of the deep ocean; half the returns from VIP Animal Keeper for a Day packages that are donated to the Fund; and certain corporate bodies that kindly donate following the holding of their events.

If you would like to contribute in an even more concrete way, it is now possible to donate to the Aquarium du Québec Conservation Fund when you buy a product from our souvenir shop. You can round off your bill or simply donate the amount you want.

Don’t wait a second longer to give marine species your gift! They’ll be forever grateful!
