In collaboration with Émile David, fishing enthusiast.

At Sépaq fishing destinations, we always maintain high standards of quality and service. However, we have to admit that due to their distinctive nature, certain Sépaq experiences even exceed these standards! The environment, the species presented, and the history of certain fishing sectors make them ideal locations for creating memories to last a lifetime.

Here are a few handpicked fishing trips of a lifetime to Sépaq destinations. Is one of these destinations on your wish list?

Lac-des-Neiges Lodge

A touch of history in the Laurentides

Formerly known as “the ministers’ camp” due to the presence of famous people within its walls, Lac-des-Neiges Lodge is more accessible than ever since it was renovated from top to bottom and added to the list of SERVICE + packages at Réserve faunique des Laurentides. The lodge is located on the shores of Lac des Neiges, famous for its extraordinarily coloured lake trout and its sizeable brook trout. And there’s a bonus emblematic element: dozens of fish carved in birch bark covering is history-laden walls. Also make sure to look for an ashtray shaped like a caribou leg in which René Lévesque, former premier of Québec, is rumoured to have stubbed out more than one cigarette.

Lac Walker

A little-known of Port-Cartier–Sept-Îles

Without question one of the most beautiful spots I’ve seen in Québec, Lac Walker is the deepest lake in the province. Located in a former glacial valley, it’s bordered on each side by boulder lag deposits dozens of metres high. This landscape is worth a trip in itself but there’s much more besides, including a population of record-sized brook trout. And the crowning touch is Lac Walker’s river outlet, Rivière aux Rochers, which also turns out to be one of the best salmon rivers in the Côte-Nord region. What a perfect way to add some legendary experiences to your stay!

Lac au Sorcier

Magic in Mastigouche

Lac au Sorcier in Réserve faunique Mastigouche is practically part of the fishing folklore in Québec. Its almost mythical reputation is based on two main factors: the presence of landlocked salmon, known locally as ouananiche, in its waters, and its limited accessibility, destined to preserve the high quality of fishing of the renowned lake. In the early 1900s, members of the St. Bernard Fish & Game Club, former owners of the territory surrounding the lake, introduced landlocked salmon in various waterways. Lac au Sorcier is the only waterway in which the species has managed to establish itself, hence the keen interest of contemporary anglers. Today, the lake is available for day fishing for the 150 winners of Sépaq’s specially organized annual random draw.

Wessonneau sector

The pride of Saint-Maurice

If you’re looking for an extraordinary brook trout fishing experience, Wessonneau sector of Réserve faunique du Saint-Maurice can’t be beat. Catches are abundant and certain magnificent specimens tip the scales at more than 1.3 kg. Will you manage to snag a famous trophy during your next fishing stay? To make the dream come true, keep on the lookout for the start of bookings for fishing stays with accommodations.
