Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

While Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier’s Le Scotora trail was formerly used by Jesuits and Amerindians to make their way to Lac Saint-Jean, today it’s a favoured pathway for outdoor enthusiasts who aren’t afraid of distances. Exploring this 16 km round trip circuit, hikers will ascend 500 metres to reach Mont Andante, follow a lengthy beaver stream, and admire a spectacular view of the valley gorges.

Parc national du Mont-Mégantic

Great news! Since the opening of Escarpements Trail, all sorts of hikers have explored this circuit of Parc national du Mont-Mégantic’s Franceville sector. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker looking for a shorter route for a change or a contemplative walker out to observe the different contrasts of mosses, lichens, and rocks, you’re sure to be satisfied.

The itinerary offers a great many natural and landscape elements to discover. The circuit has been designed to maximize the number of these sites of interest in order to make the walking experience varied, special, and even surprising. Examples include passages at the foot of the cliff to create the impression of overhanging mountains; a blind turn leading to large openings; rock formations buried under thick layers of green moss; narrow passages enclosed by a maple grove; a low-angle view of the Mont Mégantic massif; and many more besides.
