Here’s our small selection of destinations off the beaten track so you can connect with Quebec’s true nature.
Parc national du Bic
Head for the Lower St. Lawrence to stay in a park yurt. After an excursion on foot or by bike to discover the park's capes, bays, coves, islands and mountains, a cozy, rustic cocoon awaits you. The yurt includes a refrigerator, electric stove and slow-burning wood-burning stove. Imagine waking up to the sounds and smells of the sea and the caress of the sea breeze.
Parc national d'Oka
Until mid-October, you can camp in the heart of abundant, colorful vegetation on serviced or unserviced sites. Peaceful in autumn, you can enjoy a picnic or simply stroll along the beautiful beach. A trip to the Lac des Deux-Montagnes or a stroll over the Grande-Baie footbridge is the perfect way to immerse yourself in nature.
Parc national du Mont-Tremblant
An escapade in the Laurentides region definitely remains a must during fall. Until mid-October,La Sablonnière, Lac-Chat and Lac-Monroe sectors of Parc national du Mont-Tremblant offer a wide choice of wooded, intimate, and rustic campsites. For backpacking enthusiasts, the park offers very accessible huts less than an hour and a half from Montreal. Perfect for a weekend getaway in September and October!
As for activities, the via ferrata is also a very original way to take in the magnificent fall colours. Quiet moments and new lookouts offering views of the surrounding mountains and lakes await you.
Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay
In the middle of summer, the renowned fjord is a sight to behold. When fall colours join the party, the scenery becomes simply spectacular. Until mid-October, a number of rustic campsites are available along the fjord and on Des Caps trail for backpacking enthusiasts looking for an extended stay. Meanwhile in Baie-Éternité and Baie-Sainte-Marguerite sectors, you can sleep in the comfort of a hut. Take advantage of your stay to discover the via ferrata circuit on the imposing walls of Baie Éternité. Three specially designed itineraries offer breathtaking views of the Saguenay Fjord's most impressive bay. An extraordinary way to admire the colors of the season!
Parc national des Hautes‑Gorges‑de‑la‑Rivière‑Malbaie
Take up the fall challenge of the famous L’Acropole-des-Draveurs trail at Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie! For the ultimate experience during the season of colours, we suggest that you spend the night before your hike under the stars in one of the semi-serviced campsites of Camping Le Pin-Blanc. This camping sector is literally at the foot of Acropole-des-Draveurs trail, so you’ll be first to hit the trail to storm the peak.
Parc national des Monts-Valin
Hiking is the ideal way to discover the park and admire the colorful panoramas of the Monts Valin massif and the Saguenay region. Treat yourself to an ascent of Pic-Dubuc, which at 984 m altitude, allows you to observe nature's northerliness from the point of view of the giants. What's more, five EXP. chalets are now available in the Alexis Bay area, at the foot of the trails. A great way to enjoy the comfort and tranquility of the boreal forest in autumn.
Parc national des Grands-Jardins
During fall, the alpine vegetation of Parc national des Grands-Jardins has its very own personality. The colours change too, but they offer a show that’s quite different from elsewhere in the province. So take the time to visit the magnificent Charlevoix region and enjoy the show on its many hiking trails. If you’d like to spend the night on site, please note that a few huts are available along the trails. Until mid-October, you can also take advantage of the park’s array of campsites.
