The area around the lodge offers a remarkable network of footpaths to suit all tastes and abilities. The Auberge trail, for example, forms an accessible loop and provides easy access to a platform designed to offer a breathtaking view of Mont Nicol Albert. Whether alone or with a guide, there are countless opportunities to reach breathtaking observation points, or go deep into the woods to discover subtle boreal vegetation. We'll particularly remember our hikes to the foot of Chute Hélène waterfall, our descent into the heart of Mem Canyon, and our walk to Épaule peak, facing the orange panorama of the mountains at sunset. More experienced hikers will also have the opportunity – accompanied by lodge guides – to follow trails formed by the passage of moose into unexplored spaces.

3. A team of enthusiastic guides

An unrivalled playground

As well as hiking, the lodge offers a wide range of activities, both in the company of guides and for those who like to go it alone. Thrill-seekers, whether novices or veterans, can borrow electrically-assisted mountain bikes and set off to explore the vast surrounding playground. Aquatic enthusiasts will get high on kayaking or, like us, on gliding along the surface of Lac Grand-Fond on a stand-up paddleboard, enjoying the peace and quiet of the early morning.

Curiosity can also lead guests to the peat bogs, where they’ll be guided to discover the boreal flora and take a closer look at the delicate plants and berries that make up the forest undergrowth. The guides on hand during these excursions and hikes will also point out and explain the intricacies of the animal tracks along the trails. Lucky guests will even enjoy a face-to-face encounter with the moose that inhabit the surrounding area, either by chance on a hiking trail or by taking part in a guided wildlife-watching activity.
