2023 season

• May 17 to September 8, 2024
  • every day, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (the return and handover of equipment must be completed before 5 p.m.)

  • every day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (the return and handover of equipment must be completed before 4 p.m.)

You need to bring the following items:

• tent
• lighting (headlamp)
• sleeping bag
• floor mat
• canteen
• tableware
• utensils
• stove
• five metre rope for purposes of food hanging
• drinking water (or a system to treat water drawn from the river or lake)
• dry bag or keg
• mosquito repellent
• food
• warm clothing and rain gear
• first aid kit

Outdoor activities can involve certain risks, so always be sure to have the skills and abilities required for the activity you choose. Find out more

Some safety rules

• Plan your trip carefully.
• Be thoroughly familiar with basic canoeing techniques.
• Know and respect your limits as a canoeist.
• Bring a first-aid kit and a repair kit with you.
• Bring the safety equipment required according to Transport Canada regulation.
• Wear a personal flotation device (PFD).
• Know how to prevent and recognize hypothermia.
• In stormy weather, adopt safety measures to protect against lightning.
• Never approach a wild animal.
• Never cook in your tent and keep no food or other odorous materials inside it.
• Identify each type of rapids before you enter it. Only venture into rapids you have all the required skill to navigate. When in doubt, don't hesitate to portage. It’s always easier to portage than to rescue.
• Store your food and waste away from your tent, in a place that is inaccessible to bears, raccoons and small rodents. We recommend the following: Hang your food and waste in a tree at a height of five metres and two metres away from the trunk, or store it in airtight, clean kegs. Your dog's food requires the same care and attention as your own.

Regulations and useful information

• Be courteous and respect other users.
• Do not feed any animals.
• Do not mutilate trees by banging nails into them, removing bark from birch trees, or cutting branches off evergreens.
• Use a camp stove rather than an open fire for cooking meals.
• Use fire pits that already exist and do not move them around.
• Leave them where they are.
• Use dead wood for fires.
• Never leave a fire unattended. Extinguish your campfire with water before going to bed or leaving your campsite. Never use sand to put out a fire.
• You are allowed to camp only on designated campsites, which are marked on our guide maps unless you have a special authorization.
• Use campsites according to the number of spaces assigned for tents, as indicated on the guide-maps. For example, sites marked "2" are intended for a maximum of 2 tents. 10 people maximum are authorized per site except for "R" sites and those must be reserved (10 people minimum, 20 people maximum).
• Change campsites every night unless you reserved a fixed campsite identified by an "F" on the map. Never camp on islands less than 200 feet wide; their environment is too fragile.
• Your canoe-camping access fee does not entitle you to camp on the roadside sites (except for the Domaine's back-up campsite). To use these sites, you must book online. In addition, your right of access does not authorize you to fish. You must purchase your day fishing right of access online. People in motorized watercraft are not allowed to camp on the canoe-camping sites.
• Use the dry toilets. If there are none, find an area with absorbent ground located at least 30 metres (100 feet) from the water. Dig a hole, then cover it after use. We recommend that groups dig one hole for everyone to use. Dispose of your toilet paper in the privies or burn it.
• Never wash yourself, brush your teeth or wash your dishes directly in the water. Remain at least (30 metres) 100 feet from any body of water and use biodegradable soap.
• Take all your garbage back with you. Pick up all garbage and food leftovers from your campfire (aluminum foil, cans, etc.).
• Do not put waste in the privies as this will affect their proper usage.
• Respect and protect the environment.
• Always leave an area cleaner than you found it.
