Welcome to the untamed nature of Réserve faunique La Vérendrye. With more than 800 km of developed trails, this territory has the largest canoe-camping offer in Québec! Nearly 20 lakefront circuits, punctuated by 500 overnight campsites, are available for a major expedition in this stunningly beautiful natural setting.

Attention all interested parties: most of the circuits are designed for an independent and experienced clientele.

Canoe-camping circuit

  • Campsite
    • Most sites can accommodate a maximum of 10 people.
  • Dry toilets nearby
  • No drinking water access nearby
    • There is a watercourse nearby. The water must be treated and filtered.
  • Communal sectoral fire hole
    • No wood is provided, but it is possible to buy some at the canoe-camping registration centre.

Fixed camping

Is this your first canoe-camping experience? Why not opt for fixed camping! Located only a kilometre from the canoe-camping registration centre, these sites give you access to several waterways (lakes and streams) so that you can fully experience the adventure close to all the services. These sites are reserved exclusively for canoe-campers.

  • Campsite
    • Depending on the location, the sites can accommodate from 2 to 20 people.
  • Dry toilets nearby
  • No drinking water access nearby
    • There is a watercourse nearby. The water must be treated and filtered.
  • Communal fire hole
    • No wood is provided, but it is possible to buy some at the canoe-camping registration centre.

A shuttle service is offered to access the entry points of the different circuits from the canoe-camping registration centre or between the exit points of the circuits and the registration centre.

It is recommended that you make shuttle bookings at least four weeks before your visit.

Watercraft rental

Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the canoe-camping registration centre.

The rental includes:

  • Watercraft (canoe or kayak)
  • Paddles
  • Personal flotation devices (PFDs) with whistle
  • Bailer and rope bag

Note: No dry bags or kegs are provided with the rental. Dry bags are available for sale at the canoe-camping registration centre. It is also possible to rent a keg, but it must be reserved before your visit.

Fishing right-of-access

If you wish to fish during your stay, you must pay your right-of-access fee. The main species in the lakes are walleye and pike.

  • Fishing right-of-access fee
    • Authorization granted to the holder of a fishing licence to fish on a given waterway.

Lake protection measures against aquatic invasive species : consult the rules that apply at our fishing destinations regarding the use of personal watercraft.
