Grande boucle Chochocouane (#63) | ||||
This advanced/expert level circuit includes 6 canoe-camping sites at approximately 9 km intervals. It is possible to continue the circuit to Camping Outaouais if you want to avoid going up Rivière Canimiti (from the confluence of the Chochocouane and Canimiti rivers to Lac Elbow). However, this alternative requires a 32 km shuttle. |

Length | Approximate duration | Boat launching | Proposed direction | Portage |
---|---|---|---|---|
138 km (loop) | 10 days (9 nights) | Lac Elbow additional campground | Clockwise |
|
Points of interest: long and diversified circuit. Allows access to Rivière Chochocouane without a shuttle or incurring the cost of a float plane. Before canoeing on Rivière Chochocouane, you will discover small and large lakes, streams, some rapids, and a small river. Weir downstream of Lac Rocau (lovely site for swimming). Difficulties: this circuit is not recommended in high water. It can be difficult to navigate Rivière Canimiti upstream against the current.

Points of interest: beautiful sandy shores and very nice campsites. Perfect for sea kayaking excursions. This circuit offers many possibilities. Very easy access: only a few kilometres from the Domaine. Difficulties: powerful waves are formed in strong winds. When the water level is very low, some passages between the islands close up. |
* Type A portage: a portage that either connects two waterways or avoids obstacles, such as Class III or higher rapids, falls, weirs, impassable segments, dams, and rapids encountered against the current.
* Type B portage: a portage that avoids Class I and II rapids.
