Are you getting ready for an experience out in nature on the Touladi lakes and Lac Témiscouata? Here’s what you need to know before you head out to explore them.
The Touladi lakes and Lac Témiscouata are big bodies of water. When it’s windy, the waves can make boating difficult. Check the weather forecast before setting out. Make sure you always have your safety equipment with you, as well as appropriate equipment and clothing for the activity you’re planning.
The Touladi lakes and Lac Témiscouata are exceptional environments that conceal true treasures of our natural and cultural heritage.
You have the privilege of being among the first visitors to discover this territory, so it is essential to be aware of the fragility of the environment and its habitats. Varied and bountiful wildlife live along these lakes, including the Bald Eagle, the loon and the muskrat. To protect these species, we ask visitors not to approach the animals and to respect a safe distance of 300 m around the Bald Eagle nest on Grand lac Touladi (buoys).
We also ask visitors not to approach beaver dams and not to disembark on the islands to protect the tranquility of the many species that live and breed on them.
For Lac Témiscouata, please avoid landing on rocky points, which are usually home to several species of rare or uncommon plants.
For thousands of years, the first nations have used the Touladi lakes a passage. Many archeological sites have been found along these bodies of water and more artefacts may eventually surface. The park needs your help to preserve these sites.
