Participate in the park’s discovery activities. Let a park warden share his or her passion for the territory and the nature it protects.
Even though the marine park is composed of water, you can appreciate its wonders from the shore. Several observation and discovery sites explore themes about the marine park, each in their own way.
They are all part of the park’s Discovery Network.
Check out the Visitor Guide for information about the wide range of activities available.
Are you more independent? No problem! Explore Parc marin du Saguenay–Saint-Laurent on your own and soak up the spirit of the area.
A wide range of sites and activities respecting the integrity of the environment give visitors access, under ideal conditions, to this beautiful scenery and its many natural and cultural treasures. These enhancement and outreach actions are closely tied to the park’s conservation and research activities. Several are offered by partner organizations.
Between the cliffs of the Saguenay Fjord and the horizon overlooking the St. Lawrence Estuary, the landscapes of the marine park are sure to charm you. Explore them from the sea on a kayak, boat, or sailing excursion, or discover the colorful seabed while scuba diving or on a high-definition screen. On the shore, you can also check out places of discovery that will take your breath away.
Initiated in 2018, the project is led by GREMM, in partnership with ROMM, the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation, DFO, Parks Canada, Sépaq, and Ocean Wise. Window on Belugas is a network of shoreline beluga observation sites. The observation project links three sites at the heart of the belugas' essential habitat, namely Baie-Sainte-Marguerite sector in Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay, the Tadoussac Marine Mammal Interpretation Centre, and the Putep 't-awt Beluga Observation Centre of the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation in Cacouna.
Window on Belugas is a scientific adventure that aims to better understand belugas in order to better protect them! Efforts to protect belugas must be guided by a detailed knowledge of their habits and needs. From the three land-based sites, researchers from the beluga brigade use hydrophones and drones to collect valuable data on the presence and behaviour of these whales and the impact of human activities in such high-residence areas.
Window on Belugas is an alternative to observation at sea that is developing on both shores of the St. Lawrence! Part of the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park Discovery Network, Window on Belugas aims to reduce pleasure boating in the most sensitive areas of the belugas’ critical habitat. Interactive activities are offered to visitors from the three land-based observation sites. Visitors can put themselves in the shoes of a scientist and discover in real or deferred time the aerial images and underwater sounds recorded by the drones and hydrophones of the beluga brigade on the sites. An opportunity to learn a whole lot more about beluga behaviour!
