Location

Parc national du Mont-Mégantic is located in the small village of Notre-Dame-des-Bois, in the Eastern Townships tourism region. The park is part of the tourism circuit called Route des Sommets.

Franceville sector (campground of Franceville sector, Écho and EXP. cabins)

From Montréal:

  • Highway 10 East until Exit 143; continue along then take Route 112 East up until East Angus. Continue on the 253 South until Cookshire.  Then follow the 214 East untill Bury and Scotstown.  From there, keep on the 214 for a few km and turn on you right on the Chemin de Franceville.  Follow the road signs indicating «Parc national du Mont-Mégantic, Franceville Sector».

From Québec:

  • Highway 73 South, then Route 173 still travelling south, and this, until Saint-Georges. Afterwards, Route 204 West until Lac-Mégantic, then Route 161 North until Nantes, and 214 West until Milan.  After Milan, keep on the 214, then turn left on Chemin de Franceville.  Follow the road signs indicating «Parc national du Mont-Mégantic, Franceville Sector».

Observatoire sector (campground of Observatoire sector, huts and rustic shelters)

From Montréal:

  • Highway 10 East until exit 143; continue along then take Route 112 East up until the junction for the 253 South that you must travel along until you reach Cookshire. From here take the 212 East toward La Patrie and Notre-Dame-des-Bois. Once at Notre-Dame-des-Bois, follow the road signs indicating «Parc du Mont-Mégantic, observatory sector».

From Québec:

  • Highway 73 South, then Route 173 still travelling south, and this, until Saint-Georges. Afterwards, Route 204 West until Lac-Mégantic, then Route 161 South until Woburn. From there, take Route 212 West until Notre-Dame-des-Bois. Afterwards, follow the road signs indicating «Parc du Mont-Mégantic, observatory sector».

Public charging stations for electric vehicles

A level 2 charging station is available at the Observatory parking lot (currently out of service). Four additional stations will be available as of summer 2023. Details

Boutique Nature

At the centre of the Discovery and Visitors Centre, explore our vast array of souvenirs, clothing for adults and children, discovery products for young people and outdoor and astronomy articles. The store also carries educational products such as introductory astronomy books and star finders.

Food Services

Visitors must provide their own lunch during their visit at the park. A convenience store is available on site.

Additional Services

Shuttle: to the summit of Mont-Mégantic in the summer during high season (evenings only). See the ASTROLab site for packages including an astronomy evening.

Baggage Transport (during winter only): the park can transport your baggage from the Discovery and Visitors Centre to your hut or rustic shelter. Maximum baggage weight: 20 kg (45 pounds). Reservations required.

Pets

Since May 17, 2019, dogs are allowed. However, they are only allowed in certain areas. Check out the applicable rules and authorized sites.

Guide dogs and service dogs are allowed everywhere. Other pets are still prohibited in national parks.
