Gîte du Mont-Albert looms large on the road that cuts across Parc national de la Gaspésie. Whether the weather is misty or clear, it is impossible to miss this gorgeous massive building with its black gables, almost as astonishing as the mountains that surround it.
Located at the foot of the Chic-Chocs Mountains, Gîte du Mont-Albert invites you to fully escape to an enchanting site where nature and comfort go hand in hand.
In business since 1950, Gîte du Mont-Albert offers comfortable accommodations. Its 48 rooms all have a magnificent view of the towering Mont Albert. In the main building, the hotel, you’ll find the reception desk, the bar, the restaurant, the sauna, and wireless high-speed Internet access. Outside, the heated pool is a heavenly destination after a good hike.
The lodge’s 10 rooms and 2 suites, all air-conditioned, also offer a view of Mont Albert.
Near the Gîte, 18 cabins, with or without kitchenette, sleep 2 to 8 people, and on the banks of Rivière Sainte-Anne, 5 cabins, set a bit farther away from the hotel, are designed to accommodate 2 people each. They’re perfect for nature lovers who want a little more privacy and autonomy.
Parc national de la Gaspésie is a gateway to a unique mountain environment. The Chic-Chocs and McGerrigle mountains have more than 25 peaks of over 1,000 metres in altitude. These mountains are home to an abundance of wildlife, including the deer family. Deer live in the valleys, moose in the foothills, and woodland caribou on the peaks.
This hiking mecca is marked by cairns, small mounds of stones piled up to serve as points of reference. Found everywhere in this world of mountains, this icon is even part of the Gîte du Mont-Albert logo.
In the summer, visitors mainly discover the park through hiking, which reveals a sea of mountains to beginners and more experienced hikers alike. Set yourself a challenge: choose the mountain that suits you best and add it to the list of peaks you’ve climbed! Canoeing, kayaking and fishing are also on the agenda.
Morning and evening, Gîte du Mont-Albert Restaurant, open to everyone, welcomes you in a relaxed atmosphere for a delicious meal featuring regional cuisine. One of the musts on the menu is the famous Atlantic salmon, smoked right at the Gîte.
