Birdwatching enthusiasts can observe the Harlequin Duck on Rivière Sainte-Anne or Rivière Sainte-Anne Nord-Est from mid-May to mid-June, before the pairs move on to their breeding sites. Later in July, you can watch a female with her ducklings feeding in the turbulent waters of these waterways.
Walking along the hiking trails that wind through the park’s mature pine forests, you may see the Spruce Grouse. This bird, which is the size of a small hen, is not at all shy. It’s easy to watch when it’s feeding or taking a dust bath by the trail. Keep your eyes peeled. You may see the Striped-back Woodpecker, the Black Woodpecker, the Boreal Peewee, the Fox Sparrow, the Merlin, the Great Horned Owl, the Broad-winged Buse or the Golden Eagle, which all fly over the park’s territory.
