Parc national de Frontenac straddles the Cantons-de-l'Est and Chaudière-Appalaches tourism regions. Its  3 sectors are spread over nearly 30 km around Grand Lac Saint-François.

Location

From Thetford Mines:

  • Take Route 267 South. At the Saint-Daniel intersection, go straight ahead on Route du Parc-de-Frontenac and follow the directions to the Saint-Daniel Visitors Centre.

From Disraëli:

  • Take Chemin du Barrage towards Route 267 South. Turn right on Route 267 South. At the Saint-Daniel intersection, go straight ahead on Route du Parc-de-Frontenac and follow the directions to the Saint-Daniel Visitors Centre.

Southern Sector (Baie Sauvage and Lac Egan campgrounds, canoe-camping and accommodation)

Location

From Lambton :

  • Take Rue Principale/QC-108 Ouest/QC-263 Nord towards south. Turn right at Principale/QC-263 North. Turn left on Chemin des Roy and continue to the Southern Discovery and Visitors Centre.

From Disraëli :

  • Take Rue Principale/QC-108 Est toward nortg. Turn left on Chemin des Sources. Turn left at Route QC-263 Nord. Turn left on Chemin des Roy and continue to the Southern Discovery and Visitors Centre.

Sainte-Praxède sector (picnic area)

This sector is located halfway between the Southern and Saint-Daniel sectors. To access it, follow the directions to Parc national de Frontenac (Sainte-Praxède sector).

Level 2 charging stations are available at the following locations during operation periods: Southern Discovery and Visitors Centre parking lot (2) and Saint-Daniel Visitors Centre parking lot (2). Details

Important - Navigation on Grand lac Saint-François

Please note that navigation and water sports activities on Grand lac Saint-François are made risky due to high winds and the presence of motorized watercraft. Parc national de Frontenac cannot be held responsible for the presence of other users on Grand lac Saint-François.

Important – Park roads

Roads within the park leading to activities and services are made of gravel. There is no single road linking the various sectors of the park. No water shuttle service is available. You must use provincial highways to get from one sector to another.

The park is accessible year-round, but no on-site services are available during the fall and winter months, when you are totally on your own and responsible for your own safety. Outside the regular season, traffic restrictions apply at the entrances to park sectors. Hikers with a valid permit can access the trail network from the following parking lots:

Saint-Daniel sector

  • Until October 27, 2024: park your car at Saint-Daniel Visitors Centre.
  • From October 28, 2024 to May 15, 2025: park your car in front of the gate at the entrance to the sector, along the main roadway. Take the main roadway to access Le Littoral trail (2.3 km from the gate). Le Littoral trailhead is located at the end of the Visitors Centre parking lot (to the left, toward the campgrounds).

Southern sector

  • Until the end of November or as soon as the main roadway is no longer snow-free: park your car at Southern Discovery and Visitors Centre.
  • From the first snowfall until late April or early May: park your car near the administrative office. Take the main roadway to access L'Érablière trail (1 km from the administrative office). L'Érablière trailhead is located behind Sud Discovery and Visitors Centre. By early May, the main roadway should be accessible up to Southern Discovery and Visitors Centre.

Saint-Daniel Sector

Saint-Daniel Visitors Centre 
Located at 2 km from the sector entrance. Services: reception and information, payment of entry fee, camper registration, boutique, mini-convenience store, provincial fishing licence and nautical equipment rental

Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, Happy Yak meals are delicious, easy to prepare and lightweight for transport. They provide enough calories to meet the nutritional needs of fans of the great outdoors and the portions are very generous.

Visitors must bring their own lunch when visiting the park. A convenience store is available on site.

Pets

Since May 17, 2019, dogs are allowed. However, they are only allowed in certain areas. Check out the applicable rules and authorized sites.

Guide dogs and service dogs are allowed everywhere. Other pets are still prohibited in national parks.
