Parc national du Mont-Mégantic
Accessible and rewarding activities
Offer your children the opportunity to travel through the magic of the stars! Discover ASTROLab and visit the most advanced astronomy observatory in Canada! It’s your chance to explore both mountain and sky, and to learn while having fun. You will see plenty of stars in the sky, and many more in your children’s eyes!
All sorts of discovery activities are available for youngsters, rain or shine: exploration of a mountain spring, a movie, colouring, fascinating exhibitions, and even rocket building and takeoff!
Get moving! The park offers a number of easy- and intermediate-level hiking trails, including big-wheel stroller accessible Promenade Boréale trail in the Observatory sector and Promenade du Ruisseau trail in the Franceville sector. Bring your lunch and stop for a picnic. With your youngsters, you can try your luck at gold nugget hunting at La montée du Dragon! Find out all about it at the Franceville reception pavilion. National parks abound with wildlife: moose, white-tailed deer, gray jay, and so much more. Don’t miss your chance to do some wildlife watching.
Accommodations that the whole family can really enjoy
Camping du secteur de Franceville is accessible by car. You have a choice of serviced or semi-serviced campsites. There’s a playground for the children and a convenience store. This is also where you can experience the comfort of a ready-to-camp tent.
Our fully-equipped EXP. cabins offer a high-quality product, and some can exceptionally accommodate four people.
Packages in partnership with regional lodging establishments are also available, including lodges, hostels, campgrounds, teepees, cabins, and even tree cabins!
In winter, the family is always more than welcome
Enjoy the exceptional snow conditions! You can introduce your children to snowshoeing on the trails, including on the Soleil circuit in the Observatory sector and on Promenade du Ruisseau trail in the Franceville sector. If you want to spend the night in the park with your family, try staying in an EXP. or Écho cabin, or a rustic shelter.
Also take advantage of the magic of winter to participate in the torchlight snowshoeing activity. The fairy-tale atmosphere created by the torchlight will make the kids feel like it’s Christmas Eve! And you can combine this outing with the astronomy activity at ASTROLab, starting at 4:30 p.m. It’s free of charge for children 17 and under accompanied by their parents!
