Aquarium du Québec receives Biosphere certification
Thanks to its Biosphere certification, Aquarium du Québec is now recognized as an ambassador for sustainable tourism, in line with our mission to preserve aquatic biodiversity.

Our establishment stands out in particular for our efforts to educate customers and employees about sustainable development.
Here are just a few examples of the actions we have taken that have contributed to our certification:
- Creating educational workshops on the preservation of aquatic ecosystems, the negative effects of plastic and chemical pollution on these ecosystems, the threat of invasive aquatic species, and the importance of preserving the natural environment (coastline, beaches, parks, green spaces)
- Reducing heat islands by integrating vegetation and beautiful gardens on our site
- Initiating clean-up dives in Québec's waterways
- Measuring and reducing the carbon footprint of our activities
- Promoting sustainable mobility among our employees and customers
- Promoting the sustainable use of aquaculture and marine resources
Created by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) and supported by UNESCO, Biosphere is a sustainable development management system that supports tourism enterprises and land and destination managers in their progressive and ongoing efforts to implement the United Nations' "Horizon 2030" Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Sépaq is proud to announce that Aquarium du Québec is the second establishment under its management to receive Biosphere certification for sustainable tourism, since Parc de la Chute-Montmorency was also awarded this distinction.
