Lac Kénogami is full of history. When the Europeans arrived here, they were at the centre of a communication network between the Saguenay, Lac Saint-Jean and James Bay. For over 250 years, fur-filled canoes navigated these waters. Destination: the trading posts of Tadoussac and Chicoutimi. Originally an Innu word, Kénogami means "long lake".
Discover amazing landscapes, cliffs, mountains and water, which you can explore using any means of transportation: cruise, hiking, car or kayak. Plan on making a few stops. Along the way you'll find two national parks and several pretty villages.
With 210 km of shoreline, beaches and rivers, Lac Saint-Jean offers a wide range of boating activities. You can also drive or cycle (cycling path) around the lake, visit the famous Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien and the historic village of Val-Jalbert, sample regional products and much more.
Find out about the local history and environment by attending spectacular shows and exploring cultural sites and interpretation centres. Nature lovers will enjoy Parc national des Monts-Valin, a must for hiking or canoeing.
