The holiday season was hard on your wallet? Well, you can go easy with these wonderful low-cost winter activities. Such simple and affordable family outings will delight both young and old alike. Hopefully this list will inspire you!

It should be noted that we’ve based our figures on a model family made up of 2 adults and 2 children under 17 years of age. Costs were calculated based on prices posted for winter 2018-2019, excluding taxes and including the entry fee to national parks. Obviously, we didn’t take any eventual personal expenses into account. A day of cross-country skiing at Parc national des Monts-Valin

This winter, Parc national des Monts-Valin offers you a cross-country skiing excursion at the heart of snow-covered landscapes. There are trails for all levels of expertise, and their length varies between 2 and 12 km in Piedmont sector. During your entire cross-country skiing excursion, you'll discover mountain scenery, rock walls, and lakes, all immersed in snow, creating magical landscapes galore. And don’t forget that children under 17 years of age can access all skiable trails absolutely free of charge! What a nice activity to enjoy with your family!

2 entries to a national park (no charge for children) + 2 accesses to cross-country ski trails (no charge for children): $35.66 + taxes (excluding equipment rental)

Similar outings are also offered at Sépaq’s other seven cross-country ski centres, featuring more than 395 km of marked, patrolled, and mechanically groomed trails, for exceptionally high-quality skiing. Rate may differ depending on the location.

Snowshoeing in the most beautiful natural settings

Snowshoeing is one of the favourite winter sports of Quebeckers. That's why over 20 of our establishments feature snowshoeing trails. Furthermore, some of our establishments, such as Aiguebelle, Îles-de-Boucherville, Mont-Mégantic and Mont-Orford national parks, offer special torchlit snowshoeing excursions. Magical moments await you under the night's glow!

Ice fishing in Parc national des

The region of Parc national des Grands-Jardins was already renowned for its incredible fishing sectors at the beginning of the 20th century! Why not take advantage of a little getaway in Charlevoix to catch some brook trout under the ice? What’s more, on March 9 and 10, 2019, the park is organizing an ice fishing activity on Étang-Malbaie. Fishing gear will be on loan free of charge, and park staff will be on site to explain the basics of ice fishing.

Winter hike at Centre touristique du

A very popular destination with the family, Centre touristique du Lac-Simon offers more than 10 km of winter hiking trails. Keep your eyes peeled throughout your walk as you may have the good fortune to spot some white-tailed deer! During the winter, between 1,000 and 2,000 of these creatures visit the Lac Simon area each and every year!

Snow tubing and skating at
Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

Looking to spend some quality time outdoors with your entire family? Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier invites you and yours to come hurtling down its slide, solidly seated on an inner tube. You can also bring your skates to have fun on the ice trail and enjoy a self-directed rally. With these activities located close to the Discovery and Visitors Centre, you'll be able to go warm up inside, enjoy a snack, and unwind after your thrilling adventure!

Geocaching circuit at Parc national du Mont-Orford

Parc national du Mont-Orford invites you to its winter geocaching circuit where you’ll discover the fauna and flora found in the park. The circuit will take you down La Chouette trail, a 4 km hike during which you can admire the different landscapes of the park. GPSs are available for rent at the Discovery and Visitors Centre where you can use your smartphone.

Full of free activities at Parc national d'Oka

During winter weekends, Parc national d'Oka offers special activities for the whole family, including a treasure hunt, a biathlon, bulle hockey, and more. The best part is that most of these activities come free of charge! Adults only have to pay their entry fee to the park.
