Vacationing in nature is a deeply rooted tradition at Réserve faunique du Saint-Maurice and an activity that people have been enjoying for years. From 1886 to 1963 this territory was reserved for hunting and fishing clubs, whose members built solid cabins to comfortably accommodate their families. More than twenty of these charming buildings are now available for rent as part of fishing or vacationing. Each cabin is located on the edge of a lake, equipped with propane gas facilities (lighting,
water heater, stove and refrigerator) and everything that you need to prepare and serve meals. These cabins also include showers and toilets. A woodstove contributes to the cozy atmosphere.
As Sépaq cannot guarantee the quality of the water, it is preferable to stock up on drinking water.
Four primitive camps and four prospectors camps that accommodate from four to six persons each are also available for vacationing and fishing. They do not have showers but are equipped with a lighting system and a propane camp stove, as well as a woodstove. A pit toilet is located nearby.
Camping
Three camping sectors - Dunbar, Tousignant and Lac Normand - together have more than 90 campsites: 78 are semi-serviced, whereas 10 have 2 services (water and sewage hook-up). A group site can accommodate 30 people (Plateau campground).
All campers must sign in at the Matawin Registration Centre.
