With beautiful lakes, shimmering rivers and rolling hills of green dotted with leafy trees, the picturesque landscapes of Réserve faunique de Port-Daniel are home to highly varied wildlife. Several species of mammals frequent this idyllic setting: as you stroll through the reserve, do not be surprised to see a moose, a white-tailed deer, an otter, a fisher, a marten, a lynx or one of several other species.
Hikers and anglers will enjoy Rivière Port-Daniel's pastoral atmosphere and will marvel at its waterfalls, gorges and pits which, with the approach of fall, are transformed into spawning grounds for Atlantic salmon.
This little corner of paradise can be reached without having to go far off the beaten trail. Indeed, it is located just 8 km from the ocean.

Wildlife and Other Developments
The forest of Réserve faunique de Port-Daniel is exploited by the logging industry under Timber Supply and Forest Management Agreements (CAAF) awarded by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec. The logging of mature forests ensures the regeneration of the forest and, at the same time, provides a more abundant food source for several animal species, as well as high-quality habitats.

| Several mammals including moose, white-tailed deer, bear, hare, beaver, fox, fisher, lynx, otter, marten and porcupine abound in the reserve's forest. There are also a number of birds associated with marine, marsh and forest habitats including the Great Blue Heron, the Black-crowned Night-Heron, the Ruffed Grouse, the Spruce Grouse as well as a large variety of ducks. |
