Access and Operating Period

  • The John Registration Centre lies 40 km southeast of Matane. You can reach it by taking Route 195. It's open from the end of May to early November.
  • Étang-à-la-Truite registration centre is located 42 km from the John reception post on a gravel road. It can be reached from the John reception post by taking Route 1, then Route 19 and is open from the end of May to early November.

N.B. Please note that during the big game hunting season, both hiking and traffic in Réserve faunique de Matane with any type of motor vehicle are restricted by regulation, from September 3 to November 4, 2024. New regulations come into effect each year. You are invited to ask at John Registration Centre about the new rules before planning any trip to the area.

How to use MicroSD files for Garmin GPS

Please follow these steps to copy the GPS file on your MicroSD card:

•  Download the GPS file.
•  Save the file on your workstation.
•  Decompress the*.zip file.
•  Insert the MicroSD card into your computer, perhaps with the help of an adapter.
•  Copy the Garmin folder on your MicroSD card.
•  Withdraw the MicroSD card from your computer.
•  Insert the MicroSD card into your Garmin GPS.

Important: Please do not change the name of the directory or of the file; otherwise your GPS will be unable to read the document. The MicroSD card can hold only one GPS file. Use is reserved for Garmin GPS only.
