Fishing

At least 43 lakes are spread out over six accommodation sectors, namely those of Lac Adam, Lac Mont-Louis, Lac Madeleine, Lac Sainte-Anne, Branche Nord and Mines Madeleine. Fishing is managed according to a plan determined ahead of time and approved by the ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune du Québec.

There is no day fishing with reservations in Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs.

Catch and possession limits:

  Brook trout: 10
Lake trout: 2


Hunting

Moose Hunting

According to the inventory made in February 2002, the density of the moose population of Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs is estimated at 11.1 moose/10 km2.

Season: From September 2 to October 24, 2008

Moose hunting in Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs is subject to quotas and to a random draw.


Small-Game Hunting

Hunters can harvest Spruce Grouse, Ruffed Grouse and snowshoe hare.

This activity can be practised by the day or as part of a cabin accommodation stay. Six accommodation sectors play host to small-game hunters.

Season: From October 24 to November 2, 2008


Spring Black Bear Hunting


This activity is offered under the American plan and is managed by a concession-holder, Domaine du Centaure. It can be practised on horseback or in the traditional way.

Under the European plan, this activity is organized by the wildlife reserve.

Outdoor Activities

Wildlife Discovery

Observation of moose and bear with observation towers on baited sites.


Horseback Riding

The concession-holder, Domaine du Centaure, offers a guided activity to Madeleine mines. An outing originating from Parc Forillon leads to the wildlife reserve where riders can spend the night in a cabin.


Mushroom, Blueberry and Raspberry Picking



Hiking

Hikers will love the Pics trail, which offers a stunning view of the McGerrigle mountains and Lac Pierre.

Distance: 4 km
Length: 2 hours
Level: Easy
Departure: 2 km from Lac Branche Nord on the reserve's Route 22.


Winter Activities

Backcountry skiing, telemark and snowshoeing can be practised in Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs.

Winter activities are managed by the Parc national de la Gaspésie, so for details on snow conditions, you can check with Parc national de la Gaspésie
