Welcome

Welcome to Port-Menier

When you get off the plane in Port-Menier, a member of our staff will welcome you and, where applicable, will direct you to the vehicle that you rented. You will then proceed to the Sépaq Anticosti office, located five minutes from the airport. Our clerks will provide all the necessary information for your stay, trips and activities in the park and on the island. You will also find the park's Boutique Nature there.

Next, it will be time to purchase your provisions in the stores of Port-Menier. Due to the weight restrictions for luggage in the plane and the additional surcharges in the event of excess weight, we recommend that you buy your provisions once you have reached Anticosti. Remember that Port-Menier is the island's only village! Here you will find a grocery store-butcher shop, an outlet of the Société des alcools du Québec, a service station, banking services, restaurants, a dispensary, a souvenir shop, and an open-air museum.

The McDonald Visitors Centre (North Shore)

You'll fall in love with this magnificent seaside site 105 km from Port-Menier, the location of Auberge McDonald and a Visitors Centre. Our staff will be happy to give you information about the outdoor and discovery activities available nearby and in the park.

Chicotte-la-Mer Visitors Centre (South Shore)

While it is outside the park, the Chicotte-la-Mer sector, located in the southern part of the island, is well worth the trip. Even more peaceful than in the northern part of the island, this centre has a log inn with ten rooms, a campground with fifteen sites and a horseback riding facility which gives the site its own unique cachet. Here you will find land and sea, deer and horses, all in one place. There is also a Boutique Nature, and a gas station.

Food Services

The island's only grocery store is in Port-Menier.
As the maximum weight of luggage allowed in the plane is 22.5 kg per passenger, we strongly recommend that you purchase your food and beverages in Port-Menier. That way, you will avoid surcharges. Please note that you can order your provisions ahead of time by e-mail, telephone or fax at the Port-Menier grocery store (Ask us for the contact information when you book your stay). We will provide a cooler for the transportation of your provisions.
The dining rooms of Auberge de Port-Menier, Auberge de McDonald and Auberge de Chicotte are open to all park visitors, whatever their type of accommodations and wherever they are staying.

Communications on the Island

All vehicles rented out by Sépaq are equipped with a radiocommunication system. That way, you can reserve your places on one of the outdoor outings or make reservations for a tasty meal at Auberge de Chicotte or Auberge de McDonald.

Equipment Rentals

McDonald Visitors Centre:
Kayaks, and headlamps. You can also borrow safety helmets to explore the caves.

Chicotte-la-Mer Visitors Centre:
Bikes; horses with the services of guides.
