Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno

Ecological Integrity

The Environmental Indicators Program at Parc national du Mont Saint-Bruno

Since 2004, the Environmental Indicators Monitoring Program (EIMP) (see also the summary, in French only) has been implemented at Parc national du Mont Saint-Bruno. A total of 19 indicators are monitored. For example, the level of eutrophication in the lakes is measured every four years in collaboration with the MDDELCC.

The park wardens also monitor breeding birds every three years. The monitoring is done on June at 15 different listening stations. Finally, two unusual forest ecosystems are also monitored every five years.  The diameter of the trees and shrubs is measured and their health is assessed. Twenty-five quadrats are surveyed.  This helps us understand how the forest evolves.
