Lac-à-L'Épaule Lodge
This lodge is offered for fishing packages from mid-May to the beginning of September. Experience a Boreal getaway in the fall. Visit our Rates and Packages section for more information.
"Faire un lac-à-l'épaule" ("Let's do a Lac-à-l'épaule" ) is a French expression that refers to meetings that politicians and business people hold behind closed doors, sheltered from the curious, when they want to discuss a problem in the peace and quiet of an enchanting site.
Lac à l'Épaule is one of the largest lakes in the Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier. In lending its name to political and business meetings, over the past several decades its tranquil waters have swallowed many secrets. In fact, personalities such as Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt and Charles de Gaulle have come here to do their own "Lac-à-l'épaule". In the summer of 1962, under the direction of Premiere Jean Lesage, the Québec government created a precedent when they chose this secluded spot to decide on
the nationalization of hydroelectricity. René Lévesque was in charge of this project.
