Located in the Charlevoix area just an hour and a half from Québec City, Parc national des Grands-Jardins offers a real change of scenery in a magical natural setting. We offer a baggage transportation service upon request. The cost varies depending on the accommodations. See rates

There are two ways to reach the backcountry skiing and snowshoeing trails – either from the Thomas-Fortin Visitors Centre (km 31 of Route 381) or from La Galette hut (km 35 of Route 381). A heated waxing room and a toilet are available in La Galette hut. To pay your entry fee you can use the self-registration posts at both places, or at the Mont du Lac-des-Cygnes Registration Centre (km 22 of Route 381) and Le Pied-des-Monts campground (km 21 of Route 381).

Along the circuit, you can take a break at the Lac Pointu huts, which are open every day between 11 AM and 3 PM. What better place to relax or enjoy a meal than a warm hut nestled in the peaceful forest, cozy as can be with the glowing fire of a woodstove? Those who love nature and the outdoors will adore the unforgettable decor of this little piece of the Great Québec North.
Period: From the beginning of December to the end of March

Backcountry Skiing

Whether you are staying at the park or day skiing, you can take advantage of a backcountry ski circuit that crosses a pine forest and occasionally borrows park roads. This intermediate level circuit meanders through the sometimes hilly territory for about 50 km, forming a large loop. The trails are marked, but not groomed. Year after year, the park receives abundant snowfall, making for excellent backcountry skiing conditions.
You'll find a waxing room in the La Galette cabin, located at km 35 of Highway 381.

Snowshoeing

Are you one of those snowshoers that finds the forest at its most beautiful when it is covered in snow? If so, come out and explore the circuits at the Parc national des Grands Jardins, which has sections that are shared with backcountry skiers and other sections reserved exclusively for snowshoeing. Discover or rediscover this natural environment, while observing signs of the wildlife that live there.

Ice Fishing

Come and tantalize trout at Parc national des Grands-Jardins. From mid-February to the end of March, vacationers staying at the Beaumont and Jean-Pressé cabins can fish on Lac Turgeon and Lac Étang Malbaie. Try our Fishing and Snow Package and discover the comfort of our cabins while enjoying snowshoeing or backcountry skiing.
