Outdoor Activities - Summer and Fall

Hiking

Trails ranging in length from 1 to 17 km give hikers ample opportunity to experience the park's mountainous environment. Barren peaks, glacial cirques, and signs of wildlife are just some of the things hikers will enjoy.
Period: From mid-May to mid-October 2008

In May, June, October and November, we recommend that you contact the park to find out which trails are open.
Table of Trails

Backpacking (Overnight Trips)

A 100-km trail crosses the park from Mont Logan to Mont Jacques-Cartier, a 2- to 10-day excursion into a landscape of deep valleys, virtually eternal snows, peaks topping 1,000 metres, tundra, and numerous slopes over 500 metres. The route takes you through moose and caribou habitat and is part of the Appalachian Trail. A passenger transportation service is available, and there are fourteen huts for up to 8 persons each.
Period: From June 24 to October 7, 2008

Canoeing on Lac Cascapédia

This body of water, which is 4 km in length, offers magnificent views of the south side of Monts Chic-Chocs. Keep your eyes open; there is a chance that you may see moose. Kayak and canoes can be rented in the park all summer long.
Period: From June 2 to September 30, 2008

Day Fishing

A network of 10 lakes and several kilometres of streams await trout fishing enthusiasts. Watercraft can be rented on site. Please note that you must have a Québec fishing licence.

New in 2008 : It is now possible to reserve your day fishing activity 4 months in advance. For example, if you want to fish on June 24, you should reserve on February 24. Online reservations and phone reservations start at 8:30 AM (1 800 665-6527). See Reservation Terms and Conditions and the 2008 Day Fishing brochure to find out when the different bodies of water open for fishing.

Fishing with Cabin Accommodations

At Lac Cascapédia, the trout fishing and cabin stay package includes accommodations, a boat, fishing access rights and entry fee. The provincial fishing licence is mandatory.
