Discovering the Park

Nature, a Source of Inspiration

Relax in this park where nature generously shares its many charms and where the landscapes provide inspiration for creation. Groups can make reservations for the park’s discovery activities. Find out more!

Aiguebelle en spectacle (August 2 and 3, 2008)

Artists, violinists, flutists and craftspeople from the region entertain you in the exceptional natural setting of Parc national d'Aiguebelle. Don't miss this rendezvous... down a trail, by a pond or on a belvedere overlooking the cliff? Aiguebelle en Spectacle ... a feast for all your senses!

Discoveries Galore

Start your park visit at the Discovery Centre. The discovery panel "2.7 Billion Years at Aiguebelle", and the mini wildlife museum, which includes a cougar of Abitibi, await you. La Castorière self-guided trail is adapted for the mobility impaired, ensuring that as many people as possible have access to the rich natural environment of Parc national d’Aiguebelle.

Hillside Trails

The trails, prepared to blend harmoniously with the natural environment, offer the entire family the opportunity to experience nature at its best. Take in the panorama as you cross the 64-metre-long suspension bridge 22 metres above Lac La Haie and gaze out onto the Abijévis hills and the Abitibi plain.

Giant's Cauldrons

Why not take a walk along Les Paysages Trail and visit the Japanese bridge or the floating bridge, or climb to the top of the 15-metre high spiral staircase perched on a rock escarpment and enjoy the panoramic view? On Les Marmites trail, discover volcanic cushions and giant cauldrons created by geological phenomena linked to underwater volcano activity and glaciers.

Fault-structure Lakes and Other Watercourses

Breathe in the fresh air and make the most of the very hospitable nature to practise numerous water sports activities on one of the 80 rivers and streams. Relax to the sound of the waterfalls and the wind as it blows over two impressive fault-structure lakes: Lac La Haie and Lac Sault

A Spectacle Rich in Colours

An amazing surprise awaits you in the fall in Parc national d'Aiguebelle. Beyond the belt of coniferous trees in the Laurentians lie magnificent hardwood forests, which take on shimmering colours in the fall, enhancing the breathtaking beauty of the Abijévis hills. This is a spectacle you won't want to miss!

Architectural Marvels

Observe the abundant wildlife in this park, which is home to the largest concentration of moose in Abitibi and close to 450 beaver dams.

Winged Wildlife

Aiguebelle has several different kinds of habitats. On rocky cliffs, lakes, peat bogs or in the forest, hikers can observe a wide variety of bird species. See the park's list of birds to find out more. See the park's list of birds to find out more.

Sleep Like a Log

Pick a spot in one of our peaceful campgrounds (primitive or with services), listen to the murmurs of untamed nature in the kayak-camping sites, or fall under the spell of the Abijévis campground. Near a lake or tucked into the forest, small rustic shelters made of logs provide a cozy atmosphere, where simplicity reigns. If you're looking for something a little more plush, full-comfort cabins are also available. Consult the accommodations table.
